How To Design A Scandinavian Bedroom?

How To Design A Scandinavian Bedroom?

Scandinavian decor and design is popular around the world for a good reason in Singapore. It looks functional, minimalist and yet cosy at the same time. Scandinavian interior design encompasses a minimalistic style of textures, soft hues and sleek modern decor that is warm and clean. It utilises clean lines and simple functional furnishings for its decor. Let’s take a look at how you can design a Scandinavian bedroom.

What are the elements of Scandinavian design?

1. Colours

The first thing that comes to mind about Scandinavian interior design is the limited use of palettes made up of neutral tones. The main colour used is usually white with a dark coloured feature wall.

Otherwise, a Scandinavian bedroom is usually white, bright and airy. White is usually accompanied by light grey tones for the light contrasting tone.

2. Natural Lighting

Scandinavian bedrooms are also usually marked by natural light entering the room. That is because natural light is a huge commodity in Nordic countries.

3. Furniture

When it comes to decor, mod furniture is the go-to to create a Scandinavian bedroom. The pieces are not only functional but also pleasant to look at. Avoid just going for the design when choosing bedroom furniture for the Scandinavian look. Make sure the lines are clean and it has practical use in the room.

4. Plants

To add a tinge of warmth is to add life in Nordic inspired bedrooms. Plants are a key decor piece in a Scandinavian designed room. Succulents are usually the plant of choice and are placed beside the bed or on a dresser. They are not only calming to look at but also purifies the air.

5. Layer Bedding

The bedding is usually layered with a mix of standard pillows, euro sham, top sheet, duvet and throws. The bedding is usually textured with linen bed sheets. Otherwise you can go for cotton bedding to create the texture that is usually seen in Scandinavian inspired bedding.

6. Colour Accents

Although bright colours are seldom seen in a Scandi bedroom, a touch of bright colour can be added as a tinge of playfulness or interest in your room. Do not overdo it though, just one or two colour accents will do.

7. Art

Art is also used to add interest in a Scandi bedroom decor. Usually, black and white photos are used. They are framed and hung on walls. Or if you have a large painting, you can also frame them and place them on the floor, leaning against the wall.
